It came on double cradle type frame with front air shocks and adjustable rear shocks with coil springs and a reserve tank. Only 1,000 of the limited edition CB1100R which had a top speed over 220km/h were initially produced, but production was continued to meet the huge demand. In 1982, 1,500 CB1100R(C) units were released with full fairings and ventilated disc brakes with another 1,500 CB1100R(D) units featuring angled swing arms and adjustable shocks being released in 1983.
