About the 2003 Calsonic GT-R
Following establishment of the JGTC in 1993, the Skyline GT-R and the Calsonic team dominated the Japanese touring car scene, taking out the first three JGTC championships in a row. In 2003, the Calsonic-Skyline combination competed in the JGTC for the last time, with Nissan announcing it was to use the Nissan Z in place of the GT-R in 2004. Using the newly developed Skyline R34, the No.12 Calsonic took her first victory in Round 4 in the pouring rain, demonstrating the continued excellent performance of the Skyline in all-weather conditions. In the last race of the season, the Calsonic-Skyline combination took out an exciting victory for the very last time, giving the Skyline a fitting farewell.
