TAMIYA Sports Car Series No.191

About the Isuzu VehiCROSS
Three and a half years after the introduction of its concept vehicle at the 1993 Tokyo Motor Show, the Isuzu VehiCROSS made its debut as a production model in April 1997.

The VehiCROSS name is a reflection of the vehicle's ability. "Vehi" represents vehicle and "CROSS" stands for a crossover from paved to unpaved roads and from daily usage to the pursuit of the owner's special interests.

It features an aerodynamic flowing upper body, in contrast to the lower half part constructed of tough, recyclable, unpainted polypropylene. Powered by a 3.2 liter, DOHC V6 engine producing 215 horsepower, the VehiCROSS is loaded with technical innovations, including an advanced TOD (Torque on Demand) four wheel drive system. Sensing road conditions and automatically adjusting the torque balance between front and rear wheels, the system offers the benefits of both 2WD and 4WD. The Isuzu's proven front double wishbone and rear center four-link coil suspension have innovative aluminum shock absorbers with separate reservoir tank for greater damping efficiencies. The interior is finished sporty and luxurious with Recaro seats, Momo leather wrapped steering wheel, etc. Wide rear view is assured by a rear view video system with a dashboard mounted color display.

The Isuzu VehiCROSS represents the future of SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) development and clearly shows Isuzu's understanding of the category.
