About the HACCHORO
A high-speed boat to escort the Japanese General Tokugawa Ieyasu in the Edo period.
When Ieyasu traveled by boat, they escorted using a fishing boat owned by a fisherman in the village.
However, because the number of oars was small in the village fishing boat, the navigation speed was slower than the ship of Ieyasu, failing to fulfill the escort.
Therefore, Ieyasu admitted the use of the Hacchoro (ship with eight oars) to increase the speed of the ship.
